November

We have been busy in November.

CVC words

We have been practicing sounding out words and reading them. We are doing a really good job with this. I'm so proud of everyone!

Math Games
We have been playing math games to practice different concepts, such as patterning, numbers 1 -5, numbers 5 - 10, greater than and less than, putting numbers in order, etc.

Thanksgiving

We have learned a lot about Thanksgiving. We learned that the Pilgrims left England because the King made some rules that they did not like. They sailed on the Mayflower for a long time. They had a long hard winter and some Pilgrims didn't survive. The Native Americans taught the Pilgrims how to hunt and plant.
We did a directed drawing of a Native American and then we colored it. We also did a directed drawing of a turkey and wrote a sentence about the turkey. We also made a turkey.

Open seating
Many times throughout the day we have open seating. Kindergarteners need to move and wiggle but they also need to learn and work. So we get to sit on the floor, on pillows, on stools, on wobbly chairs, and scoop chairs to do our work. We have clipboards in our classroom so we can work.

Number Bonds

We have been working on number bonds. number bond is a mental picture of the relationship between a number and the parts that combine to make it. The concept of number bonds is very basic, an important foundation for understanding how numbers work. A whole thing is made up of parts

Turkey headbands and costumes

For Thanksgiving lunch at school we made turkey headbands and costumes.

Get our wiggles out

We have a trampoline in our classroom. We use it to get our wiggles out and to count.
