Making applesauce and tasting apples

Fall Chart
We talked about the four seasons and what season we will be in soon. Then we made a chart of things that happen in the fall time. I told the children that I have an apple tree in my yard and that we will make applesauce the next day in class. While making the applesauce each child got a turn to peel and cut the apples and to be the photographer. When they were cutting they did hand over hand with Mrs. Miller and we stayed away from the table when someone else was cutting. We talked about safety and what we need to do when cutting with a knife. We learned that we never touch a knife by ourselves.

Trying the applesauce

We drew pictures of ourselves and charted if we liked the applesauce or not. We had 3 of us not like the applesauce (out of the 3 one of them did not try it) and 8 of us liked the applesauce.

We tried red and green apples. They were very good. We kept asking for more and more apples.

We each picked which apple we liked best (some of us could not decide and picked both) and wrote our name on that color apple to add to our apple tree.
